Policy of non-discrimination against women – Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

The University of Thessaly has a published Policy of non-discrimination against women.

The Institutional Action Plan for the Promotion of Gender Equality for the University of Thessaly proposes a set of actions aimed at:

  • combating all forms of gender-based and other social discrimination and exclusion based on gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, social class, race, nationality and disability in education, research, employment and senior management in higher education;
  • the promotion of gender equality, equal access and equal opportunities regardless of gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, social class, race, nationality and disability in education, research, employment and senior management in higher education;
  • strengthening the culture of inclusion and raising awareness on issues related to different social discrimination and segregation on the basis of gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, social class, race, ethnicity and disability within the university community,
  • the strengthening of scientific research and education on the topics of gender, different social discrimination and exclusion, and human rights,
  • the promotion of the continuous democratization of higher education and scientific research.

The Institutional Action Plan for the Promotion of Gender Equality of the University of Thessaly was drafted by a team of three researchers, specializing in Gender Studies, social and cultural theory, human rights and critical legal studies, space theories and social change, in collaboration with and under the supervision of the Gender Equality Committee of the University of Thessaly. Among other things, the guiding principle of this Institutional Action Plan for the Promotion of Gender Equality is the implementation of European and national guiding and legal commitments, as well as the alignment with the specifications set by the Horizon Europe program, the new framework for Research and Innovation (2021-2027) of the Council of Europe, so that the research implemented in and/or 4/83 is framed by the University of Thessaly to meet the relevant specifications for research and innovation
