Purpose<\/h3>\n<p>The purpose of this Policy is to define the University of Thessaly\u2019s institutional framework for collaborative environmental education with non-governmental organizations (NGOs). The Policy seeks to strengthen partnerships that advance sustainability education, community outreach, and public understanding of environmental protection and climate change.<\/p>\n<h3>2. Scope<\/h3>\n<p>This Policy applies to all departments, laboratories, and university units engaged in environmental education programmes, sustainability communication, collaborative teaching or research with NGOs, and community projects focused on conservation and responsible resource management.<\/p>\n<h3>3. Legal and Institutional Context<\/h3>\n<p>This Policy aligns with: Law 4936\/2022 (National Climate Law); Law 4692\/2020 (Environmental Education and Sustainability in Schools); Law 4412\/2016 (Public Collaboration and Procurement); EU Green Deal (2021); UNESCO Framework for Education for Sustainable Development (2020); and UN SDGs 4, 13, 15, and 17.<\/p>\n<h3>4. Policy Statement<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>The University of Thessaly shall actively collaborate with environmental NGOs in designing and implementing environmental education and sustainability programmes.<br \/>\n2. Collaboration will include co-organization of seminars, workshops, awareness campaigns, joint educational materials, and EU-funded projects.<br \/>\n3. The University prioritizes NGOs experienced in biodiversity conservation, sustainable agriculture, circular economy, and climate resilience.<br \/>\n4. Cooperation will be defined through Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs).<br \/>\n5. The University promotes activities consistent with national and EU sustainability goals.<br \/>\n6. Results and best practices will be shared with authorities and the public.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3>5. Implementation and Responsibilities<\/h3>\n<p>&#8211; The Rector oversees implementation.<br \/>\n&#8211; Departments of Environmental Engineering, Planning and Regional Development, and Agriculture coordinate actions.<br \/>\n&#8211; The Sustainability Committee ensures compliance with University policy.<br \/>\n&#8211; The Public Relations Office facilitates NGO partnerships.<\/p>\n<h3>6. Monitoring and Review<\/h3>\n<p>The Policy will be reviewed every three (3) years or upon legislative change. Indicators include the number of NGO collaborations, participant engagement, and community impact assessments.<\/p>\n<h3>7.
