This policy affirms UTh\u2019s commitment to inclusive, equitable, and accessible lifelong learning, enabling individuals of all backgrounds to acquire, update, and enhance their skills and knowledge.<\/p>\n<p>Purpose and Strategic Framework<\/p>\n<p>This policy aims to provide an institutional framework for the design, delivery, and evaluation of lifelong learning opportunities for all citizens, ensuring openness, flexibility, and social relevance. It supports:<\/p>\n<p>Law 4957\/2022, which mandates universities to promote lifelong learning and adult education;<\/p>\n<p>The European Union\u2019s Lifelong Learning Strategy and European Qualifications Framework (EQF); and<\/p>\n<p>The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 4.3 and 4.4) on access to lifelong learning and skills for sustainable livelihoods.<\/p>\n<p>Priority<\/p>\n<p>One of the key priorities of this policy is:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The facilitation of access to education and the reduction of social exclusion by providing knowledge and skills to benefit personal development and enhance the potential for full and quality employment of citizens.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>This priority emphasizes the University\u2019s dedication to combating social exclusion and advancing personal and professional growth through accessible education.<\/p>\n<p>Scope<\/p>\n<p>This policy applies to all faculties, departments, research centers, and administrative units engaged in teaching, research, and community service. It also covers programs implemented through the Training and Lifelong Learning Center (K.E.DI.VI.M.) of the University of Thessaly.<\/p>\n<p>Beneficiaries include:<\/p>\n<p>Members of the public, working professionals, unemployed individuals, retirees, and refugees or displaced persons;<\/p>\n<p>Students and alumni seeking continuous professional development;<\/p>\n<p>Local and regional organizations partnering with the University for workforce or community education.<\/p>\n<p>Key Provisions<\/p>\n<p>Equal Access and Inclusion<\/p>\n<p>The University ensures that lifelong learning opportunities are accessible to all individuals, irrespective of age, gender, socioeconomic status, or prior educational background.<\/p>\n<p>Priority access will be given to vulnerable or underserved populations, including the unemployed, individuals in remote areas, and those from low-income backgrounds.<\/p>\n<p>Flexible Learning Pathways<\/p>\n<p>Lifelong learning programs may be offered in various formats, including online, hybrid, modular, micro-credential, and short-term intensive modes, to suit diverse learners.<\/p>\n<p>Programs should support recognition of prior learning (RPL) and align with the National Qualifications Framework (NQF).<\/p>\n<p>Quality Assurance and Academic Standards<\/p>\n<p>All lifelong learning courses must meet the University\u2019s academic quality standards, as monitored by the Internal Quality Assurance Unit (\u039c\u039f\u0394\u0399\u03a0).<\/p>\n<p>Certified programs will be accredited through K.E.DI.VI.M. and recognized nationally.<\/p>\n<p>Collaboration and Community Engagement<\/p>\n<p>Departments are encouraged to collaborate with local authorities, professional associations, and industry partners to design programs responding to regional labor market needs.<\/p>\n<p>The University shall maintain open partnerships to promote innovation and knowledge transfer.<\/p>\n<p>Open Access and Digital Platforms<\/p>\n<p>The University shall maintain publicly accessible digital repositories and e-learning portals (e.g. learning.uth.gr) offering open educational materials.<\/p>\n<p>Technical and pedagogical support will be provided to learners to ensure full participation.<\/p>\n<p>Funding and Support Mechanisms<\/p>\n<p>Lifelong learning programs may be free of charge or offered at minimal cost to ensure inclusion.<\/p>\n<p>The University shall pursue national, EU, and private funding to support accessibility and expansion of programs.<\/p>\n<p>Monitoring and Evaluation<\/p>\n<p>Each academic year, the K.E.DI.VI.M. shall report participation rates, learner satisfaction, and program impact to the University Senate.<\/p>\n<p>Policies and programs will be reviewed every three years to adapt to evolving educational and social needs.<\/p>\n<p>Through this policy, the University of Thessaly reinforces its public mission to democratize education, promote lifelong learning, and empower individuals to adapt to a rapidly changing world, contributing to social cohesion, innovation, and sustainable development.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Lifelong Learning Access Policy The University of Thessaly (UTh) recognizes that access to learning must extend beyond traditional degree programs to address the needs of individuals, communities, and industries throughout their lives.
