This policy aims to encourage and support female applicants in underrepresented subjects, such as Engineering, Technology, and Mathematics. The University will achieve this by leveraging its outreach initiatives, collaborating with external partners including other universities, community groups, government agencies, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and promoting regional and national campaigns to actively recruit women into these fields.<\/p>\n<p>Purpose and Strategic Framework<\/p>\n<p>The primary goal of this policy is to:<\/p>\n<p>Increase female participation in underrepresented subjects, such as Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, and other traditionally male-dominated fields.<\/p>\n<p>Promote gender equality in education by addressing systemic barriers that deter women from pursuing studies in technical, engineering, and scientific disciplines.<\/p>\n<p>Encourage collaboration with external organizations, including IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) and other relevant NGOs, to provide opportunities for mentorship, scholarships, and community-building for women in these fields.<\/p>\n<p>Scope<\/p>\n<p>This policy applies to:<\/p>\n<p>Undergraduate and postgraduate programs at the University in fields where women are underrepresented.<\/p>\n<p>Collaborative initiatives with universities, professional organizations like IEEE, and NGOs aimed at increasing female participation in technical and engineering disciplines.<\/p>\n<p>University outreach campaigns that target female students, particularly those in regional and underserved areas.<\/p>\n<p>Key Provisions<\/p>\n<p>University Outreach Campaigns for Women<\/p>\n<p>The University will design targeted outreach campaigns specifically aimed at encouraging women to apply for underrepresented subjects.<\/p>\n<p>These campaigns will be implemented through various channels, including social media, annual report will be submitted to the Governing Council, detailing the progress of the University\u2019s outreach campaigns, the impact of collaboration with external organizations, and the gender balance in applications and enrollments for these fields.<\/p>\n<p>The University will adjust strategies based on the findings from the annual review to ensure the effectiveness of its efforts to attract women to underrepresented disciplines.<\/p>\n<p>Governance and Responsibilities<\/p>\n<p>The Rector will oversee the implementation of this policy, ensuring coordination between academic and partnerships, and to identify areas for improvement.
