Recognizing that student parents face unique challenges, the University provides practical assistance through campus childcare facilities and partnerships with local authorities.<\/p>\n<p>Purpose and Strategic Framework<\/p>\n<p>This policy aims to:<\/p>\n<p>Enable students with young children to continue their education without interruption.<\/p>\n<p>Promote gender equality and educational inclusivity, particularly for women and single parents.<\/p>\n<p>Provide affordable, safe, and high-quality childcare within or near university premises.<\/p>\n<p>Align with SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 5 (Gender Equality), and Greek Law 4808\/2021.<\/p>\n<p>Scope<\/p>\n<p>Applies to:<\/p>\n<p>All undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral students who are parents or guardians of children under six (6) years of age.<\/p>\n<p>University departments and services responsible for student welfare, social policy, and infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>Key Provisions<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>On-Campus Childcare Access<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The University will maintain or support childcare facilities within campus areas, ensuring accessibility for student parents.<\/p>\n<p>When on-campus capacity is limited, the University will establish agreements with local childcare centers to secure access for students.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li>Priority and Financial Support<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Priority will be given to:<\/p>\n<p>Single-parent students,<\/p>\n<p>Low-income families, and<\/p>\n<p>Students enrolled in full-time study programmes.<\/p>\n<p>The University will subsidize or cover fees through municipal cooperation or EU-funded programmes.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li>Academic Flexibility<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Student parents using childcare services shall have access to:<\/p>\n<p>Flexible scheduling,<\/p>\n<p>Alternative examination arrangements, and<\/p>\n<p>Remote learning options, as needed.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"4\">\n<li>Health, Safety, and Quality<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Childcare facilities must adhere to national health and safety regulations, providing a safe and stimulating educational environment.<\/p>\n<p>Qualified childcare professionals will oversee daily operations.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"5\">\n<li>Monitoring and Governance<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The Student Welfare Office and School of Education will jointly manage childcare operations.<\/p>\n<p>Annual evaluations will review:<\/p>\n<p>Utilization rates,<\/p>\n<p>User satisfaction,<\/p>\n<p>Academic outcomes of student parents.<\/p>\n<p>Review<\/p>\n<p>This policy will be reviewed biennially, ensuring continuous adaptation to the evolving needs of student parents and national childcare regulations.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.uth.gr\/zoi\/ypostirixi\/paidikos-stathmos\">Childcare Facility at Gaiopolis Campus<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Childcare Facilities for Students The University of Thessaly (UTh) ensures that students with children have equitable access to education by offering childcare support services and family-friendly study conditions.
